The Town of Bridgewater is seeking a professional, collaborative, forward thinking, advocate to serve as its Elder Affairs Director to manage our Senior Center and Elder Affairs Department programs.

The Senior Center provides a hub for active seniors to gather, learn new skills, share their expertise, life experiences, and participate in activities providing a social outlet for Bridgewater’s residents 60 years and older. The Town of Bridgewater is rich in history but evolving, so the right candidate will need to meet the needs of a changing demographic through inclusive programming, events, and networking. Successful applicants will have the minimum qualifications of a Bachelors Degree in social work, gerontology, human relations, public/business administration, community organization, or a related field is required. Five (5) years of professional experience dealing with the needs of senior citizens, plus three (3) years of working management experience. Requires a working familiarity with the elder service network and resources, as well as state and local laws, practices and regulations regarding human service (elder) programs. Ability to think and articulate beyond the norms of traditional municipal settings.

Special Requirements include a valid State driver’s license, certification in CPR and first aid. The candidates must have the ability to be certified to receive criminal offender record information (CORI) and sex offender registry information (SORI) relating to volunteers.

The position also requires strong oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft business office software programs, e.g., Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office Outlook. (Full position description available at

This position is a member of the United Steelworkers’ union and has a full benefit package in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The position is forty (40) hours per week and is classified at Grade 12 in the Classification Schedule with the FY20 salary range of: $ 66,731.92 – $ 85,422.50. Start salary DOQ.
