Job Description
THRIVE Downtown Attleboro is a non-profit Community Development Corporation designed to grow and maintain a network of creative economy stakeholders in the city of Attleboro downtown.
THRIVE Downtown Attleboro is seeking a dedicated Executive Director to amplify and nurture the creative economy and cultural life of downtown Attleboro. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively, lead teams, and operate independently while utilizing strong organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills. Current grant funding is supporting the director’s salary for one-year. The Executive Director will report to the organization’s Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Lead THRIVE Downtown Attleboro in shaping and implementing a multi-year strategic plan with clear one-year and three-year goals.
- Apply best practices in nonprofit management and creative economy development to advance THRIVE’s mission.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to create, manage, and report on an annual budget that reflects strategic priorities.
Resource Development & Sustainability
- Identify, secure, and manage grant funding to support programs, operations, and future salary sustainability.
- Cultivate partnerships and philanthropic relationships that strengthen THRIVE’s long-term impact and financial health.
Community Engagement & Partnership Building
- Build and maintain a vibrant, inclusive network of stakeholders
- Serve as a connector and convener across sectors
- Champion diversity, equity, and belonging
Program Development & Activation
- Bring downtown spaces to life through creative, accessible, and community-driven programming.
- Shape and oversee art-making and public art initiatives
- Support local mentorship opportunities
- Strengthen ad hoc partnerships and programs that enhance downtown vitality and creative engagement.
Communications & Visibility
- Lead THRIVE’s digital and public presence through effective storytelling, social media, and marketing campaigns.
- Promote downtown Attleboro as a destination
Additional Expectations: Occasional evening or weekend participation for community events and programs
Qualifications
- At least five years of professional leadership experience in nonprofit district management, real estate, community or economic development, or related fields.
- Successful experience in fundraising and ideally within the community development arena.
- Substantive administrative and contract management experience.
- Proven track record in grant writing, grant administration, and financial management.
- Expertise in developing benchmarks and metrics to track and report progress.
- Knowledge of the city of Attleboro and the southeastern Massachusetts region.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Holds a valid driver’s license and has access to a car at all times.
Technology Skills
- Proficient with Google Drive and Gmail systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Functional in Canva and other design software.
