This management position will be responsible for operating and maintaining an E911 regional fire, police, and EMS central dispatch center which will currently serve two communities in the region. The standalone facility is currently being constructed in the town of Tewksbury for the towns of Dracut and Tewksbury. The Executive Director will work under the general supervision of the NMRECC Board of Directors consisting of the representative Town Managers and Financial Directors of the member communities. The Director will work with the NMRECC Operations Committee to develop policies and procedures, annual budget and other related duties for the effective and efficient operation of the Center. The successful candidate should possess proven management skills and a strong technical background in radio communications and relevant computer systems and software. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Five years of experience in public safety with two years of supervisory experience in a similar or related public safety organization with an in-depth understanding of the essential functions of a public safety dispatch center. Supervisory experience in the oversight of organization budgets and in the development and revision of policies and directives are essential. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business/public administration, public safety or communications preferred; or any equivalent related education and experience combination of nine years; must be or become E-911 certified and CPR certified; valid driver’s license; the ability to obtain LEAPS/CJIS Certification. Experience in managing complex electronic and data retrieval systems operations is highly desirable. Additional experience with the following is desirable: IMC computer-aided dispatch system; Voice and data recording systems; Information backup; Munis accounting software; Zetron radio equipment paging systems and fire alarm decoders. Must successfully complete a public safety background investigation, including drug and alcohol screening, must maintain highest levels of character and reputation. Salary Range: $77,435 – $96,702 depending upon qualifications and negotiations plus competitive benefit package.
