The town of Stoneham is seeking to fill the full-time position of Facilities Director. This non-union management position will fall under joint supervision of the Superintendent of Schools and the Town Administrator and is responsible for assessing the condition of town owned buildings/facilities, developing short and long term strategies for prevention and predictive maintenance and executing projects.
Responsibilities include management, administrative, supervisory, and technical work, planning, directing and managing operations of the newly created Facilities Department, including administrative, supervisory and technical work related to building safety of all buildings in the town; facilities planning, renovation, construction, energy conservation measures and efficiencies, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, preventative and regular maintenance. Prepares and implements annual repair and maintenance program to ensure that the town and school buildings are maintained. Responsible for the proper adherence to the Public Construction and Procurement laws. Performs all other related work as required.
Qualifications for this position are: minimum of five to 10 years of experience of which two years were in a supervisory position. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or public administration in a related field is preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required. Knowledge of the principles and practices of facilities management as well as previous leadership experience in facility support services including skills such as financial, asset management, and capital planning management preferred.
