The town of South Hadley seeks qualified applicants for the position of Facilities Manager/Municipal Safety Coordinator. This is a new position and will be responsible for assisting in monitoring and coordinating municipal owned building maintenance and repair, tracking energy use, implementing town-wide safety programs including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training to maintain compliance with local, state and federal laws.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Labor Workplace Safety and Health OSHA and NFPA safety standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, standards, and protocols applicable to the systems within the municipal system.
  • Ability to develop and improve existing safety procedures and protocols.
  • A comprehensive understanding of The American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Essential Experience/Education/Certification(s):

  • Must have one to three years of experience or otherwise demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver effective safety education and training programs that can include, but not be limited to, PowerPoint, video conferences, and public speaking.
  • Must have three to five years of experience directly related to the duties specified or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Must hold the following certifications or willing to obtain one or more within three years: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus. (Demonstrated commitment to a continuous, professional learning and self-improvement model is desirable.)

This is a non-union, exempt position reporting directly to Administration with a starting annual salary of $68,000. (Qualifications and experience will be considered with respect to the salary.)
