City of Salem
The city of Salem (pop. 43,000) seeks qualified and experienced applicants for position of Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer. Position responsible for financial departments of the city: auditing, assessing, treasury, collector’s and purchasing. Maintains financial reporting systems, verifies transactions, and authorizes disbursement of city funds; establishes financial forecasting for both operational and capital needs of the city; and works with Mayor and department heads to review and analyze revenues and expenditures to provide efficient and forward thinking delivery of services.
Knowledge of Massachusetts municipal finance laws, GAAP, UMAS accounting, DOR and GASB regulations required. Five or more years’ experience in Massachusetts municipal finance, department head level preferred. Bachelor’s or master’s (preferred) degree in finance, administration or accounting.
