The town of Littleton, (population approx.10,000) has a $56 million annual budget and a AAA bond rating. This position is responsible to the Town Administrator and Select Board, serves as Town Accountant and Chief Financial Officer, and oversees the town’s financial activities which include accounting, assessing, collections, treasury, and financial systems. The Finance Director/Town Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the town’s annual operating and capital budgets under the direction of the Town Administrator
Successful candidate should have five years of experience in Massachusetts municipal finance at a department head level; bachelor’s or master’s (preferred) degree in business administration, finance or accounting; a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of government accounting (GAAP and GASB), Massachusetts General Laws regarding municipal finance (UMAS), procurement and insurance. The Finance Director also provides professional input to the Select Board, Finance Committee, elected Boards, Commissions and the Town Administrator. Attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work with confidential information and an understanding the importance of timely information and transparency is essential.
This position is non-union with a comprehensive benefits package. Annual salary is $102,875 – $128,495 DOQ.
