The town of Northborough seeks applicants for the full-time (40 hrs/wk) position of Financial Assistant in the Treasurer/Collector’s Office. Under the general supervision of the Treasurer/Collector, this position performs a variety of administrative, skilled clerical and financial record-keeping support services. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: collection of real estate, motor vehicle and personal property taxes, responding to inquiries from the general public both in person and over the phone, balancing daily receipts for bank deposits, preparing and processing tax refunds and keeping accurate records.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma and at least one year of related office experience. Must be organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and meet deadlines while experiencing frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment. Must exhibit a professional demeanor, be attentive to detail and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy. Position involves frequent contact with the public and requires courtesy and tact to resolve issues. Knowledge of local government desired; proficiency with MS Office applications strongly preferred. Anticipated hiring range is $19.92-22.90 per hour, dependent on qualifications; full range goes to $25.90/hour, with comprehensive benefits. Candidate must be a non-smoker per the union contract.
