The town of Hudson seeks qualified candidates to lead a department comprised of one Deputy, eight Lieutenants, 24 Firefighters, one full-time and one part-time administrative staff, with five potential additions for FY20. Lieutenants and Firefighters are civil service. The Department has two active stations and a budget of almost $3.5 million. Ambulance services are provided by a third party. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in fire science or related field from an accredited college or university, at least 10 years of Massachusetts fire department experience, with a career progression in supervisory roles, preferably in a community of similar size (approximately 20,000). Knowledge of firefighting principles, equipment, emergency management and financial and personnel management are required. We also seek a commitment to maintaining a proactive, responsive and ethical staff. Finalists will participate in an assessment center.
