The town of Seekonk seeks experienced applicants for the position of full-time Fire Chief. The Chief is expected to work approximately 40 hours/ week, maintain regular office hours, and devote the amount of time necessary to perform the duties of Fire Chief.

The Chief reports administratively to the Town Administrator, and is directly responsible to the Board of Selectmen. Responsibilities include supervising a department of 40 career personnel including the Deputy Chief, technical, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, budgeting, enforcement of fire codes and related laws, implementing fire prevention, suppression, emergency medical services, and emergency management planning. The Fire Chief performs additional duties as required.

The minimum educational qualifications is a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma (GED), with a preferred education and graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in fire science, public administration, or a closely related field; 10 years of outstanding experience as a firefighter, at least five years of which shall have been in the rank of fire lieutenant or captain; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
