Rye, NH (5,500), seeks forward-thinking transformational leader to be its next Fire Chief. Located along 9 miles of the beautiful NH Seacoast, with miles of beaches and its offshore Isles of Shoals, Rye is a busy tourist and seasonal destination. Rye Fire Rescue is a community-focused “all hazards” Fire/EMS department with a 2025 combined operating budget of $2,449,165. Currently staffed with an FT Chief, FT Deputy Chief, 10 FT firefighter/EMTs and 6 PT firefighter/EMTs including several paramedics. The Department has an active Ocean Rescue program and is also responsible for managing the town’s summer lifeguards. In 2024 the department responded to 1243 emergency calls of which 761 were for medical aid resulting in 504 transports (355 at ALS level).
AS in fire science or related field, (BA/BS preferred); 10+ years progressively responsible relevant experience including three years as a command officer or six years as a company officer. Certified Driver Operator, State of New Hampshire Firefighter Level 2 and Fire Officer I certification; nationally registered EMT (Paramedic preferred); OR any equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary range to $130,000; starting salary DOQ. EOE.
