Fire Chief

Boxborough, Massachusetts (5,500 pop.), is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and knowledgeable leader with superior team building and communication skills, proficient personnel management skills, and budgeting acumen to serve as Fire Chief. This primarily residential community is located at the crossroads of I-495 and Route 111. The town has an AAA bond rating and stable financial operations. Boxborough is led by a five-member Select Board with Open Town Meeting and has an FY24 budget of $25.86 million. The Fire Chief, who reports to the Town Administrator, must have high integrity, good communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with town administration and union membership. At Town Meeting in May, Boxborough is seeking funding to support the design and OPM for construction of a new fire station. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) from an accredited four-year college or university in fire protection technology, engineering, business, public administration, or a closely related field supplemented by completion of Massachusetts Firefighters Academy; 10 years of firefighting experience, five of which have been in a supervisory capacity as an officer in a fire department; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Annual salary: up to $150,000, DOQ. AA/EOE
