Job Description

The Barre Fire department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Firefighter/EMT. This position averages 42 hours per week and works under the direction of the Fire Chief.
The successful candidate will perform emergency response duties including fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, public education, inspections, fire prevention activities, training activities, apparatus maintenance, and station duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
• Current Massachusetts EMT certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain Massachusetts ambulance attestation requirements
• Ability to pass the Massachusetts HRD Physical Ability Test
• Ability to pass a pre employment physical examination
Preferred Qualifications:
• Massachusetts Firefighter I/II Certification
• Hazardous Materials Operations Certification
• Fire Prevention Officer Basic Certification
• 911 ambulance experience
• Technical Rescue experience
Applicants not currently certified as Massachusetts Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials Operations must obtain certification within 12 months of employment as a condition of continued employment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation and benefits are provided in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement with Barre Professional Firefighters Local 5319.
Annual salary range: approximately $56,784 to $67,747 depending on qualifications and step placement.
(Equivalent to a 42 hour average workweek and does not include overtime or additional contractual compensation.)
