The town of Townsend Fire-EMS Department is seeking qualified applicants to fill one new full-time Firefighter/Paramedic position. After an orientation period this position will work a rotating shift schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays with a per diem paramedic partners averaging 42 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications: must be a non-smoker of tobacco products (MGL, Chap 41, Sec 101a), have a high school diploma/GED, possess a valid Driver’s license, be currently licensed as a Paramedic in Massachusetts and have the ability to be credentialed through Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Qualified candidates must pass a medical examination including drug screen, pulmonary function and pass a background check.

In addition, must live in the town of Townsend or within 15 mile of the town of Townsend within one year of hire date and remain within this distance during employment. Successful candidates that are not Pro-Board Firefighter Level I/II will be required to attend and complete the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy recruit training program during the first year of employment.

Preferred qualifications: five years or more 911 paramedic experienced, five years or more firefighting experience, certified Pro-Board Firefighter I/II, CPR, ICS/NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, Driver Operator All Vehicle, Driver Operator Aerial, Fire Prevention Basic, and possess a Commercial Driver License.

Base pay rate for FY20 is $25.06 per hour with a competitive benefit package including holiday pay, health and dental insurance, sick, vacation and personal time as defined in the collective bargaining agreement.
