Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
The Westford Fire Department provides suppression, prevention, rescue, and EMS to the town of Westford and surrounding communities, including staffing an ALS transporting ambulance.
The department is currently seeking motivated applicants to fill permanent positions and establish a hiring list for future open positions.
Applicants must be certified at the paramedic level and should have a working knowledge of the MA statewide treatment protocols. Two years’ experience as a paramedic is preferred. All applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Firefighter I/II certification is preferred, but not required. Applicants who are not already I/II certified must successfully pass the MA state fire academy upon hire. Qualified applicants must pass paramedic written test, oral interview, physical agility test, medical exam, and an extensive background investigation. Applicants must live within 20-mile radius of Westford within one year of hire.
Compensation & Benefits
Westford provides an excellent compensation package as defined by our IAFF Local 3126 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The CBA includes sick time, family sick, vacation, personal, longevity pay, holiday pay, education incentive, and certification reimbursements. Employees are eligible for Middlesex County Retirement Group 4. Health, dental, accident, vision, short term and long-term disability are also available. Overtime pay and call-back as necessary.
Work schedule is rotating shifts 24 hours on, 48 hours off, 24 hours on, 96 hours off, overtime pay and call-back as necessary.
