The city of Leominster is hiring a FT Food Inspector.
The primary function for this position is to protect the public from food borne illness through prevention, inspection, intervention and by responding rapidly to any food borne illness outbreaks. Perform inspections in other areas of public health as directed.
Employee works under the direction of the Director of Public Health. Employee seeks advice and counsel of the Public Health Director on matters that the employee does not have the authority to resolve. The employee follows departmental policies, goals, and objectives and safety procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years full-time (or part-time equivalent) of technical and/or professional experience conducting food inspections, code enforcement or related experience in the private sector.
Bachelor of science degree in related field of sciences or equivalent education, or Registered Sanitarian credential.
Ability to obtain a certified food protection manager and Certified Pool Operators License (CPO)
Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Food Codes, including 105CMR590.000 State Sanitary Code, Chapter X- Minimum Standards For Food Establishments, and the Federal Food Code.
