Job Posting -Firefighter/ Paramedic

The Westport Fire Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our department for the position of career Firefighter/Paramedic. The Westport Fire Department is a growing combination career and on-call department, that provides Fire and EMS services to the 64 square-mile coastal town of Westport located in Southeastern Massachusetts. The department serves approximately 15,500 year-round residents, as well as an ever-growing summer population. We answer approximately 3,000 calls for service annually and engage in various community outreach programs throughout the year.

We currently have 21 career members broken down into four working groups, that operate at a four-position minimum or five-position maximum, split between two stations at opposite ends of town. One member is assigned to days serving as the department’s Fire Prevention Officer. This new position will bring one group to a six-position maximum.

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or GED equivalent. Certified Massachusetts Paramedic. Qualified applicants must pass a medical/physical examination and a CORI/background check. Applicants must successfully pass the Massachusetts Fire Academy career recruit training program and be certified Firefighter I/II. Previous employers and listed references will be contacted.

Residency: All appointed members must become a Westport resident within six months of their appointment per town bylaw.
