The town of Southborough is seeking motivated individuals for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The town of Southborough is a small suburban residential community with a population of approximately 10,000 permanent residents in the MetroWest region between the cities of Worcester and Boston. The Southborough Fire Department is an all-hazards department providing fire suppression, EMS, hazardous materials mitigation, as well as inspectional services. The department operates out of one station with a minimum of four personnel on a 24-hour schedule of one day on, one day off, one day on, and then five days off. The department responds to approximately 1,500 calls annually with approximately 60% being EMS-related. The department also participates in all Fire District 14 dive, technical rescue, fire investigation and communication specialty teams.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current Massachusetts paramedic (consideration will be given to candidates currently enrolled in a paramedic program)
  • Firefighter I/II certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of Massachusetts Fire Academy Career Recruit Training
  • PALS
  • ICS 100, 200, 700
  • Hazardous materials operations level certification

Wages $61,512.36-$72,867.60 annual salary plus paramedic stipend.

Duties: under the supervision of a lieutenant of higher rank will respond to all calls for service and provide emergency medical care, fire suppression, or any other task assigned.

Hiring process: successful candidates will pass a CORI background check, complete a pre-employment physical exam and successfully complete the Massachusetts Firefighter PAT.
