Job Description

The town of Topsfield is looking to hire one full-time police officer with an anticipated start date of April 1.

Compensation: July 1 Base Pay $1,433.87/week, 90 % for first year probationary status

Other Benefits: 

  • Shift differential; 7% evenings, 8% overnights.
  • Career Incentive Pay; $8,000.00/annually bachelor’s degree, $9,000.00/annually master’s degree
  •  Mass Police Accreditation Stipend of 2% in FY27

 Eligibility Requirements: 

  • The applicant must have successfully completed an MPTC sanctioned full-time police academy and be in good standing as a certified police officer within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Municipal Police Training Committee, and the POST Commission.
  • Lateral transfers are encouraged to apply.

Application Process:

All interested parties that meet the eligibility requirements shall submit a cover letter and resume to the Chief of Police of your intention to seek the position of a full-time Police Officer.

The process shall also include a panel interview with internal professionals, a panel interview with external professionals, recommendations from the Command Staff, collective written evaluations of each candidate and an interview with the Chief of Police and Captain.

The Chief of Police will submit his recommendation to the Town Administrator for their appointment.
