The city of Fitchburg is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Head Clerk within the Department of Public Works. Under the supervision of the Commissioner of Public Works and/or his/her designee, the Head Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to administrative and clerical support, including but not limited to the preparation and processing of documents related to accounts payable, preparation and processing of departmental payroll on a bi-weekly basis and processing accounts receivables including receipt and processing of payments, with minimum supervision, in a very fast-paced public works environment.
The ideal candidate for this position will have an associate’s degree/certificate in business or related field and three or more years of full-time administrative support experience in a general business environment or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position, preferably in a municipal environment.
