The towns of Southborough and Northborough, through the town of Southborough, are seeking candidates for the full-time position of Health Agent to work under the direction of the Health Director, and to perform a wide range of inspection and enforcement duties related to public health, sanitation and environmental laws and regulations. The primary function of the Health Agent is to enforce the rules, regulations, policies of the towns of Southborough and Northborough Boards of Health (BOH), provide administrative and technical duties in accordance with the policies of the BOHs and Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH). The Health Agent’s contribution will be a key factor in enhancing local public health services delivery and community health improvements that advance health equity.
A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in public health, environmental science or related field. A minimum of one to three years related experience in public health inspection or environmental health is required. Preference will be given to candidate that has a Registered Sanitarian/Registered Environmental Health Specialist (RS/REHS) certification.
Candidates must have a comprehensive understanding of public health principles and understanding of public health laws and regulations at the state and local levels. Must possess a valid driver’s license. This position is funded through the towns of Southborough and Northborough, with comprehensive benefits.
