The town of North Andover Public Health Department has an immediate opening for a Health Inspector on a full-time basis (37.5 hours a week).
Essential Functions: Perform public health inspections to ensure compliance with state and local sanitary and environmental codes, the Federal Food Code, Title 5 and all other health related laws and regulations. Inspections include but are not limited to food establishments, public and semi-public swimming pools, recreational camps, housing and human habitation, septic systems, perc tests, soil evaluations, dumpsters, tanning establishments, body art establishments, bathing beaches and general complaints. May require attendance at evening meetings.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Three years’ experience in environmental or public health, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of relevant health statutes, bylaws, regulations, codes, policies and procedures. Ability to obtain NIMS 700 and ICS-100 certifications. The ideal candidate must be able to obtain the following certifications within one year: Certified Food Manager, Certified Pool Operator, MA Licensed Soil Evaluator and MA Licensed Title 5 System Inspector. Position requires moderate physical effort in making on-site inspections. Valid Driver’s License.
Compensation: $49,400 – $53,500, depending on qualifications. Work schedule Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m. -12 p.m.
