HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT FLEET MECHANIC
The town of Westford Highway Dept. is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Fleet Mechanic. Applicant will be responsible for repairs to light and heavy equipment as assigned and assist in snow removal operations when needed. Must be knowledgeable of the maintenance of a large inventory of automotive, light and heavy equipment, power equipment and hand tools. Applicant should be proficient in the operation of gas and electric welding equipment. The Fleet Mechanic assists in the ordering of all parts and fleet maintenance equipment, ensures compliance with applicable town, state and federal safety rules, laws and regulations. This position is required to be on call for snow and other emergencies. Ability to use a PC with fleet maintenance modules or equivalent program software. At least five years of maintenance experience which includes repair of heavy equipment along with its operation. Applicant must possess a valid CDL Class B with airbrakes, driver’s license and Mass. Department of Public Safety Hoisting License. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or equivalent is desirable. Must have his/her own tools and reside within 15 miles of Westford.
