The town of Westford Department of Public Works is seeking applicants for the position of Highway Superintendent. Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, the Highway Superintendent is responsible for the management and operation of the town’s Highway Department and related functions, including public way infrastructure and right-of-way maintenance and repair, snow and ice operations, drainage, and public shade trees; all other related work as required.
Thorough knowledge of public works operations, construction practices and techniques, construction safety policies and regulations, and snow and ice removal practices required. Must have the ability to plan, assign, and supervise work. Must be available to respond to emergencies at all times.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, eight to 10 years of experience in road construction and maintenance and public works, and three to five years of significant management/supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that may be acceptable at the discretion of the Director of Public Works. Must possess a valid Hydraulics License and Commercial Driver’s License or be able to obtain each within six months of hire. Salary commensurate with experience.
