Human Resources Transformation Director

Reports to: Chief of Administration & Finance

Position Summary

The city of Boston is undertaking a transformation of its Human Resources (HR) Department from an organization that is transactional and tactical in nature into one that is strategic and focused on exemplary customer service. The city of Boston’s objective is to create an HR organization that is the gold standard of municipal human resources organizations. The HR Transformation Director will oversee, manage and implement this transformation and newly designed operating model.

The HR Transformation Director will drive strategic planning, operational excellence, project management, and on-going monitoring of key transformation initiatives across the enterprise with a focus on transforming the city of Boston’s HR from a function of service delivery to a driver of strategic talent, business outcomes and overall employee experience. The HR Transformation Director will provide structure, governance, and leading practice recommendations for the transformation including, but not limited to, project management, risk management, change management, budget oversight, and management of concurrent transformation initiatives.
