The town of Charlestown, Rhode Island, is a seeking a strategic and forward-thinking information technology professional for a newly-created full-time position. This is a unique opportunity to plan and implement a technology design to support and enhance a wide variety of municipal functions. Prior experience in municipal IT management is preferred. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the support skills needed to maintain the IT operations of a municipality; have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline. The IT systems manager will perform all aspects of network administration for LANs, WANs, wireless networks and other technologies as required, observing and documenting processes and standards.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivery of and overall service level quality for all assignments per specific town service level agreements and service objectives
  • Minimum of five years hands on “in the field” technology experience
  • Experience with network topology design
  • Experience with design/implementation of cyber security measures
  • Experience supporting end-users with all hardware and software applications
  • Experience with virtualization is a plus. Must be available on-call and responsive to town emergencies
