The city of Methuen is seeking candidates for the position of Inspectional Services Director (ISD). The ISD is the head of the Inspectional Services Division and performs duties independently under the broad supervision and direction of the Director of Economic and Community Development. The ISD is also a direct report to the city’s appointing authority as the Certified Building Commissioner/Inspector of Buildings. The ISD is responsible for the planning, organizing and supervision of all inspection work to ensure compliance with applicable provisions of MA general laws and regulations, MA State Building Codes, MA State Sanitary Code, MA Environmental Code, any other state or federal public health or safety regulations under the jurisdiction of the Inspector of Buildings and/or Board of Health Agent, Methuen’s local charter and ordinances, the Architectural Access Board regulations and other related laws, regulations, and standards. The ISD also serves as the Zoning Enforcement Officer.

Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in a field related to building construction and/or design with at least five years of experience in the supervision of building construction and/or design or any combination of education, experience and training which would result in the equivalent knowledge and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Must possess certification as a MA Building Commissioner/Inspector of Buildings.

Salary: FY ’20 $88,546 – $104,759 annually
