Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
The town of Williamstown seeks an interim Chief of Police for a period of approximately six to nine months while the town conducts a search for a permanent Chief. The Department, comprising 15 full-time and three part-time staff, provides round the clock policing and dispatching services. This interim position is intended to be a full-time position with significant on-site presence.
Candidates should have at least five to seven years of exemplary police executive level service, preferably in a similarly sized community in Massachusetts or New England. Candidates should have proven managerial and interpersonal skills to lead and inspire during an organizational transition, with consistent attention to building strong relationships and trust with the diverse constituencies in our community, forming consensus, and committing to transparency. Additionally, skill in organizational development and policy implementation as well as awareness of the changing landscaping of policing both in community expectations and recent legal changes. Continuing professional support in these areas will be available for the successful candidate.
