The town of Southborough seeks a qualified and dynamic professional for the non-union, full-time position of IT Manager. This high impact and key leadership opportunity reports to the Board of Selectmen through the Town Administrator and is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of the town’s information systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Development and maintenance of town IT infrastructure
  • Researching and recommending new technologies
  • Development of operating and capital budgets
  • Collaboration with Municipal Technology Committee on development of town’s strategic technology plan
  • Day-to-day operations and service level assurance of all town IT systems including: network, wifi, firewalls, physical and virtual servers, workstations, GIS, VoIP phone system, website, cloud infra, and applications (including Office365)
  • Development of security policies and management of associated controls
  • Delivery of user support and user training


  • Four-plus years of relevant technology management experience. Previous experience with municipal specific software/services preferred
  • Experience with infra virtualization management (compute, storage, and network). VMWare preferred
  • Experience migrating IT services from on-prem to cloud. (AWS preferred)
  • Experience producing and executing against metric-driven strategic technology roadmaps
  • Experience implementing security and risk management processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Configuration management tech (ansible, puppet, terraform) and/or scripting experience (Powershell, Python, or other) is preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree in information systems or computer science is preferred
