The city of Lowell is seeking qualified, experienced, and energetic candidates for the position of Local Inspector and Plans Reviewer within the Division of Development Services. This position reports to the Building Commissioner and examines all permit applications and related documents and information, including plans, to construct, reconstruct, alter, repair, remove or demolish a building or structure; or to change the use or occupancy of a building or structure; Duties include approving or denying permits regulated by 780 CMR (State Building Code) and the zoning ordinances of the city of Lowell, meeting with various owners, architects, lawyers and contractors to discuss and explain requirements, and making inspections of building construction. The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience or a two-year associates degree in a field related to building construction or design.
