OFFICE ASSISTANT – GR. 1
FULL-TIME (34 HOURS PER WEEK)
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS – Utilities
Pay: $18.25 – $26.96 per hour

The Office Assistant is responsible for the provision of administrative, customer service and clerical work assisting with the operation of the Utility Division (water and wastewater) of the DPW. Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, the employee is required to plan, prioritize, and carry out the regular work in accordance with established standards and previous training. Performs a variety of clerical and customer service duties as required including greeting customers at a counter, answering the department’s telephone, processing of department mail, credit card payments, maintaining department records, databases, and the ordering of office supplies. Responsible for the receipt and processing of the depositing of payments received.

Minimum of an associate’s degree or an equivalent journeyman’s level of trade knowledge, minimum of three to five years prior work experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs related duties as required.
