Position Title: Part-time Professional Librarian/Substitute – Adult & Children’s Room
Hours: Part-time/15-19 hours per week (1-2 evening shifts & 1 Sat or Sun per month)

Union: Non-Union hourly part-time professional
Salary Range: $26.38-$31.66 per hour, no benefits
Part-time professional position. Primarily responsible for the planning, coordinating, executing, and training of library technical processing services, including operations relating to acquisition and cataloging of library materials and maintenance of the online catalog for our Youth Services Department. This professional position is in the Children’s Department of a busy, medium-sized public library which prides itself on superior customer service Performs various tasks relating to the circulation of children’s materials, including but not limited to checking books in and out, collecting fines, answering patron queries, assigning new library cards to patrons, and all other duties as required. Responsible for the opening and closing of the library facility.
Education & Experience: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited institution required. Familiarity with Sierra software and a working knowledge of children’s literature strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to interact with children and adults with patience and discretion, and excellent organizational talents and attention to detail. Good written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the capacity to work efficiently and energetically. Familiarity with Microsoft Office a plus. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates and the general public. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Willingness to learn new skills. Tact, diplomacy, and flexibility in schedule.
