The town of Brookline is accepting applications for the position of Planner within the Regulatory Division of the Planning Department, a dynamic, multidisciplinary and highly professional department. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for Regulatory Planning and the Planning Director, the Planner provides staff support to the town’s land use regulatory committees; prepares reports and policy analyses; interacts with the public, attorneys and developers as well as other municipal departments; and undertakes planning studies and initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in land use planning and/or community development. Master’s degree in relevant field preferred. Knowledge of and experience in general land use principles and practices as well as zoning, preferably within Massachusetts. Candidate should possess the ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary or interdepartmental team. Valid MA Driver’s License. Strong communication skills as well as familiarity with computer software and a willingness to learn new systems. Starting salary $34.27/hour plus generous benefits.
