The Townsend Police Department is soliciting resumes for the salaried position of full-time Police Lieutenant. The ideal candidate will have experience with policy and procedure development and promulgation, internal affairs, accreditation, and have a high level of understanding and expertise in best police practices and training.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Graduation from an MPTC (Municipal Police Training Committee) approved police academy or ability to attain a certification waiver through the exemption program within six months required.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of progressive police experience including five years of supervisory experience. Possession of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in criminal justice or public administration is preferred. Successful completion of a law enforcement command school such as the FBI National Academy, Roger Williams University Command Training Series, University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course, FBI-LEEDA, or equivalent also preferred.
  3. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  4. Pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological and medical testing.

Annual salary range: $75,189 – $116,923
