Job Description

The Town of Avon seeks qualified candidates for the full-time, AFSCME union position of Station Clerk for the Police Department. The primary function of this position is to provide information and assistance to the public and coordinate responses from appropriate police, fire or other municipal agencies. Using radio equipment, telephone or other means of communication, coordinates requests from first responder personnel for additional support services.

Requirements include a high school diploma/GED, college degree desirable. Must achieve within the first three months of employment, or as soon as reasonable, based upon the availability of courses; CJIS certification, radio communications and public safety software training. Work schedule requirement includes rotating or fixed shifts on nights, holidays, and weekends. This position is 40 hours a week and will require overtime when necessary. 

This is an AFSCME union position with full-time benefits of 40 hours per week based upon bi-weekly average. There is also one 20-hours pers week position available with benefits. The starting hourly pay range is from $22.97 to $27.45 per hour.

The prospective employee must successfully complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Records Inquiry) and a physical examination, including a drug test.
