PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT ASSESSOR (RESIDENTIAL APPRAISER)

The City Assessor seeks candidates for the position of Principal Assistant Assessor. This position manages property inspection schedules, researches relevant market data, develops valuation schedules, and prepares documentation for abatement review and appellate proceedings. Responsibilities also include supervision of residential appraisal staff; conducting research, appraisal development, and reappraisal of apartment and mixed use properties independently; requiring the exercise of prudent appraisal judgment.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in real estate studies, economics, business management or finance; five years’ experience in a role valuating real property, such as appraiser, valuation data manager, real property appraisal aide, or equivalent; two years’ experience supervising/managing staff; possess an MAA accreditation or similar professional certification (if in process, must have accreditation within one year of start date); Equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position.
