Durham Public Works, located in the beautiful Seacoast region of New Hampshire, is a recognized leader in the Public Works field. We are seeking a highly qualified team member to join an exceptional team of public works professionals to serve in the role of Assistant Director of Public Works – Operations. In this exciting role you will report to the Public Works Director and undertake challenging and rewarding work involving the operation, construction and maintenance of the town’s transportation, stormwater, water, building, fleet, and solid waste systems.

Durham Public Works is a fully integrated and progressive Department with modern equipment and facilities. The position includes the managerial, technical, and operational management of the town’s infrastructure and treasured public resources. The position requires an associate’s degree in engineering technology, public administration, construction management, or a similar discipline with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience including four years in a combination of highway maintenance, construction, buildings, and grounds maintenance, two years of which shall be in a supervisory capacity. Years of experience may be substituted for formal education. The successful candidate must be proficient with municipal construction and maintenance methods, public procurement, permitting, public works technology, Microsoft Office Suite® and be available for 24-hour emergency response.

Salary range for this position is from $74,314 to $94,582, depending upon qualifications. This position includes a generous benefit package: Health, Dental and Paid Time off.
