The city of Melrose Health & Human Services (HHS) Department is seeking a Regional Epidemiologist to support the cities of Malden, Medford, Melrose, and the towns of Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester. This full-time (35 hours per week), benefit-eligible position is a key part of the Mystic Valley Shared Public Health Coalition, focused on communicable disease tracking and health data analysis. This role is grant-funded through the Public Health Excellence grant and is set to end by June 30, 2027, unless otherwise extended. Key duties include supporting local public health efforts through communicable disease case investigation, managing health data, identifying at-risk populations, and assisting with public health preparedness and response activities.
The qualified candidate has a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field (or a combination of education and experience), familiarity with public health regulations and datasets, and experience with electronic medical records systems, such as MAVEN. Knowledge of data analysis and visualization is a plus. Bi-lingual skills in Portuguese or Spanish are also preferred.
The starting salary is $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
