The town of Lexington seeks qualified applicants for the per diem, non-benefited position of Recording Secretary (Minute Taker) for the Select Board. The Recording Secretary works remotely to prepare meeting minutes according to the requirements of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law and then generate draft and final meeting minutes. Select Board meetings are usually held on Monday evenings several times per month. Additional meetings may be scheduled on other nights.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a high school diploma, and experience taking minutes according to the requirements of Massachusetts Open Meeting Law, or the equivalent, and one to three years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience. The Recording Secretary is expected to work independently in order to complete and revise meeting minutes, and to have the ability to utilize file sharing such as email, to submit files to town staff. General office skills in typing and word processing, user knowledge of personal computers and Windows based software programs is required. Flat rate of $175 per meeting.
