Do you enjoy interacting with the public, specifically senior citizens? Do you have experience designing programs for older adults? Are you detail oriented and skilled at multi-tasking? If so, the town of Wellesley is seeking to hire a full time (35 hours/week) Senior Activities Coordinator who will plan and oversee recreational and educational activities and events that the Council on Aging (COA) sponsors for senior citizens. As a member of our COA department, you will join a talented team of individuals who strive to enhance the quality of life of Wellesley senior citizens through the programs and services offered at the Tolles Parsons Center and in the community. The Senior Activities Coordinator is responsible for communicating program information through the preparation of bi-monthly newsletters, emails to subscribers, and various media outlets including the “Senior Neighbors” column in the Wellesley Townsman. The work requires significant attention to detail, organizational skills, writing skills, and knowledge of departmental practices and procedures. The Senior Activities Coordinator plans and assigns the work of subordinates and works closely with a large number of volunteers and paid instructors. The incumbent often serves as the liaison from the COA to various community groups and works collaboratively with community partners to plan and organize co-sponsored events. Some weekend and evening hours are required for events and day trips. Requirements include an associate’s degree, one to three years’ experience in program management, research, and evaluation, excellence in interacting with the general public, familiarity with Word, Excel, Adobe InDesign and database applications, and the ability to write articles and create flyers/brochures. Experience working with senior citizen population preferred.
