The city of Newburyport seeks a qualified Sewer Collections Superintendent responsible for the operation and maintenance of all wastewater collections and pumping; supervision and management of responsible crews and staff; procuring materials and equipment; scheduling training and maintaining accurate records. Provides inspections of sewer mains and sewer services connections; completes permits and submits reports. Attends Sewer Commission meetings and provides reports/information. Responsible for the annual operating/capital budget. Works with the City Engineer to oversee responsibilities associated with Stormwater Management.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and 10 plus years of collection system experience, three years of which is increasingly responsible supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training as determined by DEP. Must have a Collections Certificate Grade IV.
This position is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a Teamsters Department Head Union position with an initial salary of $80,000 to $90,000.
