Sewer Foreman/Chief Operator

Job Description

The town of Sutton is seeking a skilled and motivated Municipal Sewer Foreman/Chief Operator to oversee and perform operation, maintenance, and repair of the sanitary sewer collection system, pumping stations, and wastewater treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with wastewater systems, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serves as the licensed Chief Operator, managing daily maintenance, inspections, and emergency responses for wastewater facilities and infrastructure.
• Supervises, trains, and evaluates department personnel while managing schedules, project workflows, and resolving daily operational issues.
• Develops operating budgets, manages billing and assessments, maintains material inventories, and ensures timely regulatory reporting.
• Resolves customer complaints, interfaces with community boards, and attends all required Sewer Commission meetings.

Special Requirements:

Grade 4M Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator License Required, Grade 5C Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator License preferred.
