The town of Oak Bluffs is seeking candidates to serve as head of the Shellfish department.
The Shellfish Constable, who through a variety of environmental, ecological, and law enforcement duties, is responsible for the protection of the town’s shellfish.
Reporting directly to the Board of Selectmen, this position will exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment and high-level problem-solving skills in fulfilling the duties of the appointment.
Comprehensive knowledge of state and local environmental laws is required. Applicants must be proficiently skilled in the operation of small boats, pumps, winches, and other shellfish harvesting equipment.
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in natural resources management, environmental science, or related field; and five to seven years of experience in environmental management, or related field.
