The town of Auburn is seeking a professional to fill the position of a full-time Solid Waste & Recycling Coordinator. Under the direction of the Director of Public Health, the position is responsible for oversight of the town’s municipal curbside solid waste and recycling program; performs management of programs that help reduce tonnage of waste and increase awareness of overall recycling requirements to ensure compliance with state and local laws. The position responsibilities will include monitoring the solid waste collection routes within the town; identify areas in need of outreach and maintain database for reporting; provide education to the public; and other public health related activities for conformance to health regulations and laws.
Bachelor of science degree in environmental health or science or closely related field preferred. Experience in the solid waste or recycling industry in lieu of education will be considered.
The full-time benefited position is for 37.5 hours per week with a salary of $40,000 per year. The position will remain open until filled.
