The town of Sterling, MA (pop. 8,100) Is seeking experienced Driver/Operators and Laborers for permanent, full-time (40hrs) positions offing a full benefits package, including health, dental and vision. Under the general supervision of the DPW Superintendent and/or Foreman, Sterling’s Driver/Operator and Laborers perform manual work, operate motorized equipment and deliver quality public services to the residents of Sterling. Our department staff work in support of the construction, maintenance and repair operations for the town’s Department of Public Works in the Highway Division. The Department is responsible for maintenance of town streets & highways, sidewalks, patching potholes, tree maintenance & snow-plowing. The position will regularly assist all team members in the various divisions, including Water, Parks/Grounds/Cemeteries. We are seeking candidates who have the ability to work well in a team & work independently using sound judgement under limited supervision. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and a high school or GED diploma. A Class B CDL and Hoisting License is required or must be acquired within one year of employment. The starting range is $20-$26/Hr depending on qualifications, experience and licenses (Hoisting/CDL).
