The Brookline Public Library is seeking an operations supervisor to perform tasks related to the day-to-day maintenance and care of three library buildings. Responsible for providing a clean and safe environment for the public and staff; plans, schedules, directs and oversees the work of maintenance staff, upkeep of maintenance equipment and supplies, shipping and receiving activities, safety and security, and utilities and energy usage. Acts as the Library liaison to coordinate building maintenance issues with the Public Buildings Department.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field or vocational training specializing in facilities maintenance, HVAC, construction or related courses. Three to five years’ experience in facilities management and/or supervision of building maintenance; minimum of three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license; excellent supervisory, interpersonal, operating maintenance equipment; and computer skills. Knowledge of materials, methods, safety precautions and techniques relative to building operations, and repair and maintenance programs in the care and maintenance of public buildings, and knowledge of public bidding process. General knowledge of state building codes, including health/fire safety codes required. Starting annualized salary of $74K plus generous benefits.
