TAX ASSESSOR: TOWN OF SMITHFIELD, RI: Full-time, non-union, salaried position, with excellent benefits. This position is responsible for establishing uniform and equitable valuations on real estate, registered motor vehicles and tangible / personal property within generally accepted appraisal principles. The Assessor is accountable for preparation of an annual Tax list, recommends policy & plans for the implementation of assessment goals; prepares annual operating budget and responds to taxpayers inquiries regarding assessments and related programs. Qualifications include: a bachelor’s degree preferred; five years of related experience in property appraisal work including laws and regulations; knowledge of Microsoft office and GIS. Knowledge of vision cama & administration software a plus. Certified by the State of RI as a municipal assessor and a residential appraiser preferred. The successful candidate must be able to manage & supervise personnel and maintain favorable working relationships with the public and other officials. Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 DOQ.
