Parks & Grounds/Highway-Heavy Equipment Operator
Temporary full time position, with the potential for permanent employment
The town of Westford’s Parks & Grounds Department and Highway Department is seeking a qualified applicant to temporarily fill the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. This temporary position is anticipated to last six months and may result in permanent employment. This seasonally shared position works under the Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Department from April – November and Highway Department from November – April. Duties include heavy labor, all aspects of landscaping, grounds care, fields maintenance, the operation and repair of maintenance equipment, the use of hand/power tools, and all duties relative to the repair and maintenance of streets and sidewalks, including snow removal. Must be able to report to work within one hour of notice for emergencies including snowstorms, icy roads, and other conditions. Prior experience with equipment requiring a Hydraulic License and the ability to operate a front-end loader is required. Position will give preference to any prior landscaping experience. The following are required; valid Class B CDL driver’s license with an Air Brake Endorsement, Massachusetts Department of Public Safety Hoisting License minimum of a Class 2B, a good driving record, and submittal of a MA RMV Driver’s history report with all applications.
