Applications are being accepted for the position of Town Accountant. This full time supervisory position performs highly responsible functions of a complex and technical nature requiring a high degree of professional judgment and initiative in ensuring that all municipal financial transactions conform to legal and professional standards. A thorough knowledge of the Uniform Municipal Accounting System and Mass General Laws as they pertain to finances, accounting principles, practices and budgets is required.

The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of government accounting. Working directly with the Treasurer/Tax Collector, Deputy Assessor and the Finance Director.Provides professional input to the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, elected Boards, Commissions and the Town Manager. Attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work with confidential information and an understanding the importance of timely information and transparency is essential.

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting, as well as a minimum of five years financial management and analysis experience – preferably in a municipal setting. Knowledge of our MUNIS system and CGA (Certified Government Accountant) highly preferred.

Salary: 80-110K annually based off background and experience.
