The town of Chester is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time position of Town Accountant. The Town Accountant performs highly responsible professional, administrative, and supervisory accounting work in maintaining the financial records and fiscal integrity of the Town. Qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field, and five to seven years of related experience. Or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. This is up to a 24-hour per-week position with a salary range of $33,280 – $37,000 DOQ.
The successful applicant must be able to work independently to ensure that time-sensitive projects are completed. Knowledge of the laws and methods pertaining to municipal finance and accounting as well as knowledge of the UMAS accounting system is required. The selected candidate must have strong record-keeping skills and be a strong communicator.
